A Drive Along the Coast

Dennis and I took a little drive up the coast.
We drove south to San Elijo Beach and then went north.

San Elijo Beach

Stopped in at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas.

Made a pit stop at Tamarack Beach in Carlsbad.

Ended up in Oceanside, watched some surfers and families enjoying the beach.
We had a very nice drive.

New Spices to Explore

I found an Indian market right here in town!
and bought some black mustard seed, curry leaves and hing.
These were a nice addition to spices I already had.

So I begin by making dal, it is an Indian staple.
This one is yellow lentils and tomatoes.
The air is full of aroma as it cooks.
mMmmm mmmm

It turned out beautifully with green beans and rice on the side.

How is it?
Delicious!
He did Not want to stop eating to have picture taken.

Summer's End

Last Day at the Beach
a little chilly. Brrr brrr brrr

Taking a refreshment break while in the ministry.
A good start in our new service year!

"Jehovah himself gives the saying;
The women telling the good news are a large army." -Ps 67:3

At the Farmers' Market with a Vender we love.
Notice the stall behind them, it is one of my favorites!

This young man makes ceramic pendants and cups and also paints.

Quick lunch a Rubio's!
Had to get a picture of this summer car!

A day at La Jolla art galleries, gelato, picnic dinner on cliffs above ocean, sunset.
Watching the stars come out reflecting on the waves! Beautiful!
Nice way to end summer.

Notice my skirt? Remember the stall at the farmer's market?

A Paper Engineer! What's That?

Robert Sabuda -Paper Engineer
He works on pop-up books
among other things.
This is a pop up created by paper engineer, Marshall Alexandar
Cute little guy, isn't he?

Do you remember enjoying pop-up books?

Peter Pan pop-up book

And Cinderella pop-up!

The Smithstonian Museum has an exhibit of older pop-up books, along with tunnel books and cards. It looks very interesting and will be there until sometime in 2011. Check out this youtube of two paper engineers that contribute to the exhibit.
