I Should Have Been An Archictect -

World's Tallest Buildings:

The oldest, tallest buildings are all in the United States and date back to the 1930's. I thought that was interesting, so I chose a few to highlight today.

The Trump Building, New York
Built in 1930
Architect: H Craig Severance & Yasuo Matsui, Shreve & Lamb
#66

American International Building, New York
Built in 1932
Architect: Clinton and Russell, Hoton & George
#57

Chrysler Building, New York
Built in 1930
Architect: William Van Alen
#32

Empire State Building, New York
Built in 1931
Architects: Bruce Graham, Shreve, Lamb & Harmon
#14

These first four buildings were all in the Art Deco style.
I really like the art work on these buildings,
especially the plaster work.

This is just one example of the Art Deco plaster.
Above the door of the American International Building, NY
The workmanship and beauty is amazing.

Sears Tower, Chicago
Built in 1974
Architects: Skidmore, Owings & Merrill
Engineer: Fazlur Kahn
#7

Taipei 101
Built in 2004
Architect: C.Y. Lee & Partners
#2

Burj Khalifa, Dubai
Built in 2010
Architect: Adrian Smith
Engineer: Bill Baker
with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill
#1

very interesting.
They really are modern marvals.

And I'm not surprised at all that the Chinese and Arabs have built the tallest ones lately, They have the most money now. We Americans probably pay the morgage payment.

I've been in a couple of tall buildings and I get a little "sick" looking down.

But they are pretty cool looking from the ground.
